The following article stems from the Best Practices we've found have the best success and gives tips on how to leverage Nexus best, provides assets which you can use to promote your store, and goes over frequently asked questions. Once you've built your store, how you choose to promote your Nexus is totally up to you and what best fits your channel. The following assets and best practices are for you to use as you see fit. Many of these are transferrable for other activations you may do!
Promotional Assets
To help you promote your store, our Design team has created templated Twitch panels and animated banners that can be used in live streams and videos.
If there is another type of asset that would be useful to you, let us know!
Best Practices
We’ve been building Nexus for several years with creators of all different backgrounds, sizes, and areas of specialties. The following practices are what we’ve found works best for most of our diverse creators.
Active Promotion
We’ve divided the best practices into two categories: active and passive.
Active Promotion is the intentional promotion that helps build the reflex to support you by purchasing games from your Nexus. Here are some examples:
-
Pre-Launch announcement
-
Before launching your Nexus, let your community know something exciting is coming! Give as little or as much detail as you'd like, but hyping up your store and your excitement about it is always a good thing.
-
- Show your store on screen. Whether it's during a live stream, YouTube, or Twitter video, a 1-minute overview is recommended, here are some touchpoints:
- Showcase what games are currently in your store (i.e: pre-orders, discounts, etc)
- Mention that we often match Steam discounts
- Familiarize yourself with the purchase flow
- Cover how supporters can redeem their key whether it's via Steam or another platform
- Explain how much of each purchase goes to you; if they tip, 100% of it goes to you
- Show where supporters can explore the full Nexus Library -- via the Search bar in the top right corner of your store
-
Save a video of this if you want or even pre-record it, you can play it when you go AFK. More on this later.
- All of this helps drive people to engage with your store, and recognize it as a reputable place to buy games while supporting you.
-
That video you saved for later? Use it for YouTube and during livestreams.
- Play it when you go AFK or on YT as a Pre/Mid/Post-roll
- Regular reminders about your Nexus help make the process of buying games whilst supporting you more top of mind. Ideally, you do this once an hour in a live stream setting, but there is no obligated amount of time to do this, so do it as you see fit.
-
Enable alerts for livestreams by linking your Streamlabs or StreamElements
- As alerts come in for game purchases, that’s a good time to shout out your Nexus and touch on anything from #1 above.
Passive Promotion
The following forms of passive promotion are easy wins that you can do once and reap the rewards. Passive promotion is just as important as active promotion because if you do all of the active promotion from above and your community isn’t able to find your Nexus, then your efforts will be less impactful.
- Linking above the "fold".
- For Twitch this would be like using the Social Links (to edit these you go to Creator Dashboard -> Settings -> Channel -> under About towards the bottom of the page) + Twitch panels
- With YouTube this includes linking your Nexus in the first three lines of the description and adding your Nexus URL to the “Links in banner” (found under Creator Studio -> Customization -> Basic Info)
- Linktree or carrd.co are good places to link your Nexus as well if you have one, if you don't have one, what are you doing? Make one, it's free!
- Updating a pinned Tweet or pinned Discord message to include your Nexus + other affiliations or places to find you
- Even putting out Discord reminders when you’re not live if a game goes on sale or becomes available is a huge help
- Use our animated overlay banner (file is .webm to retain transparency) and add it to your Twitch streams using Streamlabs Sponsor Banner or StreamElements Image/Video Slideshow widget.
- For YouTube, you can just add this in somewhere randomly throughout a video through your video editing software
- For livestreams, make sure you have a chatbot set up with a Timer and a Command.
- You can also make a command for when a member of your audience has a problem with their order: "!nexushelp If you need help with your Nexus order, you can contact Nexus here for support: https://help.nexus.gg/hc/en-us/requests/new"
- We have the ability to have you copy an auto add to cart option for a game you might want to promote and you can set it up as a command, for example !buyuncharted or !buyeldenring
- If you review games, and we have the game you’re reviewing, add your review to the game page by clicking "Details" on the game within the Nexus Library. You can also link your review or just gameplay footage from a YT video or Twitch VOD
- We also have a Charity feature! If you regularly stream for charity, this might be a good feature for you to use. We work with Tiltify to include a list of causes that you can direct a percentage of your earnings. Utilize this feature during any charity streams and give your community another way to contribute to a worthy cause
